National Ecological Footprint and Biocapacity Accounts contain national and world-total data since 1961 about: ecological footprint of production, ecological footprint of consumption, ecological footprint embodied in trade, biocapacity, and components of biocapacity and ecological footprint.

Data is available through multiple platforms including FODAFO’s member organizations:

• National and world-total data in an Excel workbook, with release notes, and additional resources through York University’s Ecological Footprint Initiative. 

• Interactive data visualizations (map, time series, component breakdowns, supplementary socioeconomic data) for educational use through Global Footprint Network’s Footprint Data Explorer. This platform may take up to two months to update after official edition launch. 

Data is updated annually, with a new edition launched by Earth Day (April 22).

The current National Footprint and Biocapacity Accounts is the 2025 edition:
